Members have been busy in a variety races over the past month:

July opened with Marcus Saunders taking part in the Skiddaw Fell Race, which saw the course shotened due to awful weather conditions.

A week later, in more pleasant conditions, Neil Chapman took first place in the Spilsby Six, while on the same day Jon Hobbs finished in seventh position in the Notfast 10k at Newark-on-Trent.

Welcome to Lincoln and District Runners

Lincoln and District Runners were formed in 1991 and are a friendly and enthusiastic running club, which welcomes runners of all abilities. We meet twice a week - on Tuesday evenings usually at North Kesteven Leisure Centre, North Hykeham and on Thursday nights at a range of locations in and around the city of Lincoln.

We generally run in two groups during the traning sessions with runners of all abilities, but keeping the ethos 'no one is left behind'.

We organise a number of races locally, as well as attending and supporting other local events including the Lincolnshire Cross Country League on an annual basis.

In addition we have a number of keen fell runners who regularly participate in events in the Lake District as well as closer to home in Yorkshire/Derbyshire.

Alongside the runners, we operate a walking section which has grown in size over the last couple of years.

We have a thriving social calendar - the past year has seen numerous nights out as well as a trip to a brewery, club BBQ, ghost walk and bowling.

Other ideas - Suggestions please

As we've said before, please give us ideas of what you want. Paul Pyrah suggested a bowling evening as this is usually enjoyed by everybody at the annual club presentation do and especially this year as it is going to take another format. If you think this is a good idea, let me know, Bowling is perhaps an event for the darker nights later in the year. Another suggestion I've had is a bike ride down the cycle railway with a picnic or calling at one of the pubs on route for a light lunch. Again, what do you think? We could also look at going to the Theatre Royal as another (more professional) theatre outing.

Thanks Ros

Club Day Out - Sat May 8th 2010 PDF Print E-mail

Club Day Out Sat May 8th 2010

A club day out will consist of a Trail Run followed by a social in the evening.

The trail run is the Cressbrook Crawl in Derbyshire on May 8th. This race is advertised as a Fell race, but does not go onto the high peaks or open moorland. It is run on farm tracks, riverside paths and disused railway tracks, there are a few hills to contend with but you can admire the view as you make you way up!

So if anybody wants to try some off road running this race is an ideal starter, no medal at the finish, but you do get a free pint!!

The distance is 6.5miles and starts at 11.00.

There will be a car share sorted so you dont have to worry about driving there.

Click on the links for further details.

Too easy those aching legs a club social will start in the evening at The Victoria on Union Road (Uphill), meeting at 8pm. No definite plan for the evening, but there are plenty of drinking establishments in the uphill area.

Would be great to see you all at both events or even one of them.

If anybody wants further details speak to Marcus or Ian

Well done to Mick Bray, who to celebrate turning 40 years old ran 40 races in one year. These ranged from fell races, cross country events, races on the road at all distances and culminated in the Virgin London Marathon back in April.

Littleport 10K PDF Print E-mail

Dear Secretary,

Last year the Littleport 10K not only changed its date but also altered the course, hopefully to enable more runners to achieve PB’s.

This year we have once again  (on advice from the County Athletic Officers) changed the date to Sunday 25th July 2010.  In previous years the course was measured using GPS, this year the course will be accurately measured by UK Athletics.

Once again we will be awarding trophies to the top three men and women finishers and all competitors will receive a goody bag.  There will also be spot prizes awarded for those further down the finishing field.

We will also be holding a Fun Run on the same day and entries for this are taken on the day.  This event is for five year olds and over (5 & 6 must be accompanied).

I would like to ask for your help in advertising these events to your members; the website is www.littleport10k.co.uk where entry forms are available.

Yours truly,

Clare Pendle
Race Secretary
