LDR Bio: I am Louisa and I first joined LDR in 2014. I have seen the club grow from strength to strength and it really has kept me running. I have been a committee member for the past couple of years as the kit lady and as a result, we all now look really smart in our vest, t-shirts, hoodies and bobble hats! You will find me at a club run most weeks, including our monthly track sessions. I was voted in as Chair of LDR in November 2025 and am very excited for the future of the club. We have amazing members who make it what it is and I feel very proud and protective of everything LDR!.
Running: I've been running for a long time! I first started in 2003 after the birth of my second child. I simply ran because it was a way of keeping fit and healthy whenever I could fit it in, and then I really grew to love it. In my early running years, I entered a few races of all distances and then after completing my first marathon in 2014, I decided I was now a runner and could join a club! I was very nervous but the good old LDR welcome made me realise I did not have to go to the lengths of running marathons to be able to join! I have never looked back. I then became involved in Lincoln parkrun, where I took on the role of Event Director from 2017-2022 and that was truly amazing as I have met so many people through this and now have a real appreciation for every type of runner out there. I am not the fastest runner, but I have improved as I've gotten older and my most recent proudest moment was setting a new marathon PB of 3:37 in October 2025. I say never give up, surround yourself with good people and good things will come. I even run cross-country now. The things I do for this club. (But secretly I do actually love it! Again, something I left far too long to try out!)
Running Ambition: I want to be able to run for as long as I can. I'll enjoy the PBs whilst they happen too, but first things first, is to carry on enjoying my running. I would love to match / beat my Chester time when I run another marathon this year, but we shall see. Anything could happen! I'll also run with LDR vest as long as I can too. Age is no barrier in our club and we're more than a club. As Chair, I can assure that our values and ethos will remain. These are what make our club special. We're there for everyone and we celebrate everyone in it. So whilst I have my own ambitions, I have hope and ambitions for everyone in our club.
